Anna's Cake run

ree

On Tuesday 22nd July, I hijacked the usual SBH social run for a bit of birthday fun—because running in fancy dress followed by cake just makes sense!

We headed out from Ormskirk on a sunny evening, taking in a just-over-5-mile route past the Gorse Hill Service Reservoir and up to Clieves Hill. It was a lovely mix of trail and road, with an enjoyable pace that allowed for chatting, plenty of laughs, and lots of photo stops along the way.

Our fancy dress effort definitely turned some heads—though I think most of the neighbours are used to this sort of thing by now! There were Wonder Women (plural!), a sparkling Tinker Bell, rainbow tutus galore, not one but two bananas, a very enthusiastic Flintstone complete with inflatable club held high to dodge brambles, and even a classic 118 runner with bold moustache and vest.

After the run, we made our way back to my garden for the all-important second half of the evening: birthday cake (two of them!), mini ice-creams, and some good old-fashioned post-run catch-ups. A few friends who skipped the run joined us for cake and chat, which made it extra special.

Huge thanks to everyone who came along—you made the evening so much fun and definitely put a big smile on my face 💛🖤💛
