8 go on a Coastal adventure

We were lucky enough to be given 2 entries for teams in the inaugural Beautifully Brutal Coast to Coast Winter Ultra at the weekend by Huw Williams. 8 intrepid runners headed to the beautiful Llyn Peninsula, ready to take on nearly 40 miles of coastal running. The Skelmersdale Boundary Harrys and Harriets were primed and ready for action 💛🖤

As the rain bucketed down, Jane and Mike took shelter in the Tafarn y fic in Llithfaen, setting off at 6am up Yr Eifl and towards the infamous steps of doom. Mist and rain made the visibility poor and despite a fall on the descent , hand over was completed at check point 2 with time to spare.

Jamie and Viv headed off in the beautiful November sunshine, across the peninsula and down towards Myntho and Abersoch, then across the Llanbedrog headland to the next handover. Both runners blasted round the course with Viv having an amazing run as her incredible recovery continues. Handover complete, Andy and Karolina headed through Pwllheli and over Pen Garn, picking up one of the many "honesty book pages" you were forced to collect.....a throwback to the pre tracker era.

Handover in Llanor was a very laid back affair, with Chris and Su chilled out and ready to complete the race with the uphill slog to the steps again and back down to the finish .

Back to the finish as the sun set and a warm welcome, medal and beer in the "fic".

All in all, a fantastic weekend. The Marshals and helpers across the whole course were amazing, the other teams were lovely and the grouped relay starts made for a fantastic atmosphere, banter and social event.

I have no doubt we will be back to do this again!!

Thank you Huw and all the team 🖤💛
