49th Parbold Hill Race

Updated: Feb 28, 2019

The running of the 49th Parbold Hill Race on Saturday the 16th of February saw a fantastic turn out of 23 Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers, and some significant wins for the women in the form of individual and team 1st places.

The Female 35 to 40 age category win was scooped up by Becky Wadeson, the 40 to 45 age category by Honor Thompson (also 5th woman), and the 60 to 65 category by Carol Quirk, whilst the Womens team prize win was a fine effort by the three counters of Honor Thompson, Becky Wadeson and Jess Crook.

The good form shown by the Skelmersdale women, bodes well for the final race of the NW Cross Country league, where along with their sister club the Parbold Panthers they hold second place and can still challenge for the winners Trophy.

The 11km Parbold Hill Race is the pre-eminent regional hill race in the winter running calendar that fill its 600 places within a matter of days once entries open in early November.

The race is organised by local club Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers who will now be gearing up to celebrate the 50th running of the race next year. Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers has a very long history and in the past year, two of its older members Dave Goulding and Derek Dalton have passed away, this was marked at the race by the team wearing black arm bands and a short speech before the start.
